I just read a story on Spiegel online which shocked me: According to a new study, more than 14% of German teenagers can be considered as "anti-foreigners", while more than 5% fall into the category of the righ extreme with Nazi-tendencies.
Surprisingly, the bad reputation of foreigners seems to be higher in those regions with little foreigners (so those regions where people don't even know what they talk about!!!).

To me - this is just another example of human ignorance, but for a foreigners living in Germany, these numbers are pretty scary!
What are your opinions and personal experiences with the way Germans see foreigners?

Si, muchos alemanes son racistas-lo se por mi propia experiencia. No significa que te pegan o maltratan como los rasistas de derecha extrema (en la DDR). Pero te dejan sentir que eres diferente. Soy alemana pero genéticamente soy media alemana y media latina (mexicana) y aunque hablo perfectamente el alemán estoy harta de que siempre me preguntan "De donde vives?" Cuando contesto "Soy de Munich." Responden": No a eso no me refiero...de donde eres VERDADERAMENTE?" y eso aunque tengo un apellido alemán.
Eso me fastidia mucho. No creo que por ejemplo en EEUU siempre preguntan a un "asian-american" o un "italian-american" : "Oye, no eres blanca/rubia como los típicos gringos/alemanes...asi donde tienes tu raices ecticamente?".No entiendo porque los Alemanes tienen tantos problemas de aceptar que la "raza alemana típica" ya no existe y además nunca existió.
y tengo que decir que si hay mucha gente que piensa algo racista pero no lo dice de frente. Pero tambien hay buena gente como mi papá aleman y mis amigos alemanes que tengo.
Hace poco yo anduve en el tren en Hamburgo y tres negras (no se si se dice asi en español o mejor morenas?) de africa entraron con un bebe y hablaron en su idioma y salieron en la próxima estacion y un típico aleman (como unos 50 años, típo comerciante) se sentió molesto y exclamó con voz muy muy muy alta:" Diese Schrei-Affen, mein Gott". Y la muchacha alemana al lado de mi sonreió aunque no sabia porque. Porque yo me sentí muy mal y triste. No sabia que hacer y no se puede discutir con esa gente. Asi que me quedé muda. Que bueno que las señoras no sabian que dijo ese hombre sobre ellas!

Te he entendido perfectamente, al igual que he entendido que aqui se estaba preguntando por los alemanes y sale alguien para hablar de los españoles, que somos la salsa de todas las discursiones.
En cuanto a mi raza, no creo que por mi forma de escribir se pueda saber el color de mi piel, das por echo que soy blanca y no todos los españoles lo somos, te recuerdo que guinea ecuatorial (África) fue una colonia española y que por la ley de la memoria histórica cualquiera con un abuelo español es español.
Y en cuanto a lo de los "latinos", todos los pueblos latinos son pueblos europeos, si lo ponemos en su acepción exacta. La gente de america, son norte, centro y sur americanos. Y los de habla española, Hispanoamericanos. A mi me gusta mas decir Latinoamericanos, pero no es correcto. Que me guste usar el termino no significa que no sepa donde esta España, que es un país latino y que forma parte de Europa.Si los españoles lo son mas o no, bueno pues depende, imbéciles los hay en todos los países y siento que conocieras a algunos, pero meter a 48 millones y decir que son racistas, cuando mas del 10% de la población no es de origen Ibérico, y la mezcla de razas y culturas es actualmente la mas elevada de Europa, estas llamando a mucha gente que no es blanca racista. Cuando he puesto que el grueso de mis amigos son españoles, a lo que me refiero es que tienen el pasaporte español, pero para mi si tienes la nacionalidad lo eres, aunque racialmente sea de origen africano o asiático.
Asi pues ALGUNOS españoles son racistas, pero la palabra TODOS es demasiado grande.Unos son hipocritas y los otros expresivos .

Bueno Criss, veo que defiendes muy bien los de tu raza, pero creo que no haz leido bien , no es que los alemanes no sean razistas, es simplemente el hecho de que los españoles lo son MAS. Esa fue mi propia experiencia, no se si decir los o USTEDES. y eso que tengo una muy buena amiga española, pero eso nosignifica borrar lo vivido.
Al parecer has tenido malas experiencias con amistades alemanas, y eso de que piensan que si somos o no los latinos muertos de hambre , talvez en parte lo has querido decir tu personalmente, porque ustedes los españoles no son latinos, o no sabes que forman parte de la europa.
El pensar y enunciar lo pensado son cosas muy diferentes.Que los alemanes no son racistas???

Pues no es cierto, algunos lo son y mucho, pero no te lo diran a tu cara en la vida. Yo vivo en alemania, mi marido es aleman, me relaciono con alemanes (aunque el grueso de mis amigos no) y los comentarios en petit comite son la pera. Asi que al menos con los españoles sabes a que atenerte por que los alemanes te ponen buena cara y a tus espadas opinan lo peor de lo peor, pero eso si, se guardaran mucho de que se les note en publico.
Y ambas, tu y yo, somos dos dos latinas muertas de hambre las cuales fuimos compradas, eso es lo mas fino que te van a soltar con dos copas de mas. Lo piensan pero no te lo dirán nunca. A cuantos has invitado a tu casa y cuantos han ido?? a cuantas has llamado para ir de compras y cuantas te han dicho que si?? Pues eso.
Yo soy española, mis amigas aquí son mayoritariamente españolas y latinoamericanas, alemanas que pueda llamar amigas?? Cero. Y entre pitos y flautas llevo once años.Quienes son mas racistas

Spanish people are more racist than the Germans, I have almost 10 months living in Germany and in the only part that felt descriminacion by the color of my skin was in a Spanish party to which I was invited, and looked at me with disgust .
My husband is German and he could realized I was treated.
Based on my16 yrs, assesment of cultures and diversity living on this continent!@Mais Um

I have a german nationality as well as 2 kids living there now. Some of the things you said about Spain looks exactly correct.Only problem is that the are not among the big European countries that shakes things or that can pull weight outside the continent.The act this way in other to get noticed.I have visited spain but decided not to comeback again for holidays.In the case of germany we hope things will get better may be after vetrens are gone+20yrs. We might have a change in demography.Minorities entering the police force and justice system, that is if their laws permits that.We can only dream of it.

Sara de España, I see why your posture is so defensive. Your country happens to be very racist against brazilians. I know several people who live in Spain, follow all your "rules" and are treated like unwanted animals. A friend of mine is a very famous musician and had an appointment at Spain before returning to Brazil. He came from Italy, where he had no problem. But in Spain he was locked at a dirty room, interrogated for hours, and in the end was beaten by a very stupid policeman, with several teeth broken, crying in the floor. These stories are very common, well documented by the press, and are often denied by spanish authorities. So the point is: even if foreigners "behave properly", they are victim of racism if the locals don't appreciate their nationality. One more thing: you are an european, so of course you can't feel the same amount of prejudice that we from "the rest of the world" (South America, Africa, Asia) feel at some places.

We always are trying to get numbers about all and trying to have a topic.
The racism is in ALL WORLD, in the 5 continents and in all races, ages and gender...
But some countries have to pay more for this, more than others (probability for historical things) and it is very sad.
We have to live in nowadays and today the main and advances countries like in Usa or Europe are open and respectful countries. You can be respectful as well "the people who came: foreings" respect you.
It is mean: Integration, no violence or delincuence, folow the rules of the country and to know and respect the culture of the country you are. And if it is possible arrive to love the country for take care of it and improve it.
If a person arrive to a foreing country and folow all this rules, nobody in advances countries can be racist. Never!
The problem came when this don t happen, so this stadistic came from this I think. So we have to talk about the racism? or about problematic people how dont know integrate in?
I feel me very well in Germany !

Hi Michael! I think your story is a complete fabrication!! They spat at you in england , what for?Ask anyone or germans in particular they will tell you things like that dont happen in england. What you claimed happen to you can only happen in germany.
