New York City string quartet ETHEL will be performing 'Signature Sessions,' a program packed with their favorite pieces from nearly 25 years of making brilliant, original music. With their sense of engaging personality, ongoing interest in current cultures, and explosive creativity and authenticity, ETHEL has an unmistakable signature, to which commentators refer when they describe other performers as "like ETHEL."

The four themes, or sessions, in this high-energy program, include ETHEL Rocks, inspired by icons like Janis Joplin and Led Zeppelin; At the Movies, with masterpieces by Philip Glass and Ennio Morricone; Circus, featuring highlights are drawn from ETHEL's evening-length collaboration with The Ringling Museum, Circus: Wandering City, and World Tour, including selections from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, from South Africa, and Marcelo Zarvos, from Brazil. Intending to lift the Pandemic Blues, this program has something for everyone, from quiet inspiration to dancing in the streets, all delivered with ETHEL's signature passion, compassion, and virtuosity.

ETHEL — Ralph Farris (viola), Kip Jones (violin), Dorothy Lawson (cello), and Corin Lee (violin) -— is one of America's most adventurous string quartets. Known for its enlivened playing and unique programs, ETHEL has been described as "indefatigable and eclectic" (The New York Times), "vital and brilliant" (The New Yorker), and "infectiously visceral" (Pitchfork). Since its inception, ETHEL has released nine feature recordings (one of them
nominated for a Native American Music Award), performed as guests on 40+ albums, premiered 225 new works, won a GRAMMY® with jazz legend Kurt Elling, and served in 14 countries, 45 states, and 250 cities.
