When you travel abroad for studies - whether it is a simple language course, a summer camp or a proper study program - do you try to engage with the locals? Or do you end up hanging out with other foreign students who speak your language?
It is interesting to know about personal experiences, and how each one of us ends up interacting with the local territory and its people. It is often so easy to simply speak our own language and see the destination as a tourist or temporary visitor. Yet, the experience is probably more rewarding and enriching if we tried to engage more at a local level, learning about traditions and joining artistic workshops, or even simply sipping a cappuccino in the piazza with other locals.
What do you think?
