Absolutely Karting Maidenhead: Charity karting evening

Absolutely Karting in Maidenhead is inviting karting enthusiasts to join them for an endurance team race on Tuesday 19th October to raise money for a local charity.

Organised by the Chilterns branch of the Wooden Spoon rugby charity, the event will see teams taking part in a 90-minute Le Mans-style endurance race with drivers switching places to see which team can last the pace and cross the finish line first.

Wooden Spoon funds life-changing projects that support children and young adults who have disabilities or are disadvantaged. Since the charity was founded in 1983, it has funded over 1,300 projects across the UK. This includes the funding of two specialist twin-seat karts which were donated to Absolutely Karting and its sister company Rogue Leisure by Absolutely Together to help young people with additional needs experience karting.

Ray Hague, from Wooden Spoon Chilterns, commented:
"Wooden Spoon is delighted to be working with Absolutely Karting to raise money to help fund more projects in the Chilterns area that will support children and young people. We look forward to welcoming teams along for an evening of racing."

Matt Schofield, Venue Manager at Absolutely Karting Maidenhead, added:
"We're happy to be supporting Wooden Spoon by giving them the venue to use for a fundraising event. Whether a family team or a group of friends or work colleagues would like to take part in the race, it's a great way to have fun and help to raise money for a an extremely worthy charity."

The event costs £200 for each team with a maximum of five drivers per team. The fee and all the money raised during the evening will be donated to Wooden Spoon. A team space can be booked by contacting Ray Hague from the charity - rayhague@btinternet.com.
