Join ProPublica and Back Pocket Media for Local Live(s), a night of live storytelling and entertainment bringing together investigative reporters and community members.

ProPublica journalists who cover the Midwest will share the stories behind their published stories — and how the personal and professional intersect. Think of it as a live podcast all about reporting in the region we love.

The theme of our show is "Chain Reaction: Stories About Decisions That Lead to Surprising Outcomes and Unplanned Futures."

The event will also feature live music from Julius Tucker and storytelling from standup comedian Chris Trani.

Guided by host and data reporter Haru Coryne, these ProPublica reporters will tell the stories behind their stories:

- Jessica Lussenhop — The criminal justice system makes a massive error and tries to fix it 13 years too late. Jessica is there to break a story and, in the process, may help a man win his freedom.

- Melissa Sanchez — While reporting on immigrant children and teens working graveyard shifts, Melissa realizes not much has changed since her dad first crossed the border from Mexico decades ago.

- Anna Clark — A story about one reporter, 11,000 untested rape kits and a city on the brink of bankruptcy.
