...is it really that weird like everyone says??
I've been to the UK for a few months, and I have to admit that the "funny" TV-series didn't make me laugh at all.
I think it's indeed true that the British got another sense of humor...but maybe every culture has that, even though not that clear-cut.
What do you think?

I am Asian and I enjoy the British sense of humour. I haven't been to the UK, although I am looking up work there, but I find their sense of humour very interesting. In some chat engines where I met British people, they post one-liners that strike me as hilariously funny... and yet to the rest of the room, it meant nothing. One realizes who has a brain, or who has not. Or to put it mildly, who among the people in chat use their brains at all.

The British versions of television shows - for example Whose Line is it Anyway and the Office - are much, much funnier than the American versions. Even many Americans agree with me on this! It's a little more depressing, but then it makes you happier about your own life. Cathartic, like Aristotle says.

yerr overheard quite afew whinging here but cos my french isnt that up to scratch i really dont know the situation, think it is bad lots of people are being sacked etc! but its the same most of the world over! hurrr!!! nightmare for when i come home then... new apartment sky hiiiighh heating bills... and ill be skint! oh well! .. ill try and remeber some of them names and look very cultured hehe!

hi clare well i never did back to manchester. yes lo jo its really credit crunch here. however maybe only for some.my life has been one long credit crunch so i wont notice. i lived in toulouse many years ago. i was there for eight years.I worked as an aid and companion to an elderly french woman and an assistant to an editor which actually involved making coffee tea delivering brochures and photocopying and tidying about. i think they thought it was novel to have somone english about. I also worked in airoplane factory or somthing like that architects drawers panel beaters. I used to prepare lunch for twenty people and i spoke pidgeon french and served terrible food im sure. but to them i was a novelty. I dont know if you know much about french culture but mention louise de funes or johnny haliday jaques brel . all old acters dalida singer. alan Deloin.jean Gabin. anyway mention them and you will have the french in raptures of nostalga exscuse spelling. the price of heating is sky high here .food has gone up in london dont know about manchester. I like how the french at least have a bit of spirit regarding their own crunch. chow from a whinging pommie. theresa london

theres lots of different humor in england... you should try dom jolly, his is funny and you dont really need to understand english that uch to get it! also i think peter kay is really really funny but thats because it related to the way english people are....asking what time it is at home when they are on holiday....doesnt everyone do that? also ther is ali g/borat! thats really funny and sasha barron choen..if i spelt it correctly is so clever for acting so thick! lol
what programshave you been watching? and what do you think of the french humor! for me its quite obvious and not very funny but then agan there is one comedian i like francise lambruglar...defo not spelt that correct but he is funny...but then again maybe its just because i am english and find that funny! i dont know humor is weird isnt it?

Hmm quite hard to describe! Maybe it's only me in Sweden, thinking that British humor isn't funny.
I cannot say how the Swedish humor is in general, as even within my circle of friends the humors differ quite a lot. Maybe you have to come to Sweden one day, travel around and find out by yourself ;)
