Spanish men and their Spanish temper...

Posted in Spain forum

I know that's an old discussion and full of stereotypes - but I just have to share my experiences!
I've been in Madrid recently (only for one week to search a room for my upcoming internship) and therefore came across the Spanish guys.
I already heard some stories of Spanish being very "open" towards people (especially girls), but I didn't think there were THAT open! When you're walking down the street some of them yell at you, and in clubs it's even worse! In some cases it's hard to get rid of them!
Of course, you can find that kind of guys in Germany too, but not in that extent!
I think their behavior is just part of the Spanish mentality.
What experience did you make as a girl here in Spain? (boys are also welcome to give their opinion...especially Spanish ones ;-))

I've never been to Spain, but have been to central america, these spanish speaking countries. The guys there don't look attractive to me. Maybe spanish guys look different? temper wise, maybe there are a lot of similarity. Absolutely I like warm guys.

I've been to Italy, people are also straightforward on the street, but the last thing I wanna get is to be followed by some old ugly ones, which I got in Italy. erk... and there are hot ones, but they are more shy. I've met some good looking and brave ones, but they give me the impression of very impolite and uncultured...

In germany, it's a different story. I've only been approached once on the street, it's a forty something older man... I think look wise, german guys look much better, but as a tourist I never really met one coz they don't speak to strangers. Also, they seem not having an interesting personality.

yes, prefer latin men! now I know why people always rate latin men so much better as lover. But overall european guys are more attractive than american guys... Hope my trip to spain this year will work out!

¡Gracias Juan! Siempre está bien tener un precio orientativo. Lo miraré con mucha antelación cuando encuentre tiempo y dinero para ir allí. Me gustaría preguntarte más cosillas sobre el país cuando me decida a ir.

    Translation:

Thanks Juan! It's always good to know an average price. I will look up in andvance when I find the time and money to travel. I would like to ask you some thing about the country when I decide to go there.

    Hi Ana,

I agree with you. Of course it's important -and necessary- to comprehend the culture and habits of those around you, specially abroad.

Unfortunately, the percentage of polite Spanish people is very low.

The level of illiteracy in Spain is one of the highest in Europe. It increases as you travel South. Believe it or not, we've had the same UNCOUTH government in Andalusia for the last three decades. Their great contribution towards the social progress is called "PER". It is a monthly fee paid to any citizen capable of studying and/or working, to firmly avoid doing so.

Did you know that there's a little town in Seville that has more Spanish pub's ("bares") than Finland? Now you know why.

    Kind regards,
    Manuel

    Hello everyone
I have to say this is an interesting topicc. I have always been one to appreciate different cultures. As a black woman I did the honorable and expected thing of marrying one and having a child with him but what does all that means if he doesn't treat me like a princess? So I have broadened my horizons and began to tap into my curiosity of other cultures. The gentleman I am talking to now is of spain and treats me so well. He sends me poems, writes beautiful love letters and is soooo sensual. I have to admit years ago I was turned off to mexicans who gave me the tongue as I walked down the street, but my current friend trats me so well. So no more generalizations on my part

    Thanks for the information Jase!

I know people who has been there on a working holiday too and I think that's really interesting, I think it must be very openminding.

I would like to do it but the truth is that for the time being I have different plans. I'm leaving to Denmark in two week time for studing and I don't know how long I'm going to spend there (and it's an expensive country :-S). I finish my studies in July, but if I feel confortable there maybe I stay for 1 or 2 years more (working).

For the time Aus have to wait, I hope not for long. See you!

    Hi Maria

It depends on how long you want to stay and what type of visa you apply for. I had a friend from Hong Kong stay for 12 months on a visa, what type? I can't recall. He travelled all over Aus on a working holiday. Standard tourist visa is 90 days, but am not sure if it allows you to work or not. Check out Australian immigration website for more details.

I recently paid A$3,100 for airfares to Vancouver via Hong Kong. It took some time to save and commit, but it was worth it. So, decide what visa type and what type of work to support your activities. Good luck!

Hi! I looked up how much could cost a single flight to Sydney and it cost around 3,000€ - 4,000€ and it's never direct. I looked up in www.iberia.com. Do you pretend to come for a long time?

I know I can't believe it is so much more expensive now here in Australia. Especially with the weather and the flooding, everythings gone more pricier. I want to go to Spain, it's going to cost me $30, 000 just by myself?

Hola Juan, an early welcome to WA. The Spaniards I know are single, but fun. I work with 2 of them and they are bound to know other expats. They all live inner suburbia, which is similar to Joondalup.

Location, location, location! Staying somewhere local to city is a good starting block. Then deciding on your adventures like travelling or relocating to the Kimberleys, going down South, etc. Perth is a very relaxing place.
