Review of Kuwait

Posted in Kuwait forum

I just returned from a long stay in Kuwait, and I can't begin to think of a starting point to rant about my experience.
I was in Kuwait for one full year. I stayed in Salmiya, at a fairly nice residence. From the moment I arrived, I was appalled at how many of the expats and foreign nationals were treated by the Kuwaiti nationals. My observation merely reinforced the idea that the Americans are only in the country for the security of the oil, and not to maintain the relations with the Kuwaiti nationals.
After interviewing several western nationals, it was quite evident that Kuwait is a country that the Arab Community turns a blind eye to when it comes to human rights violations. If a woman has been hired in the Philippines as a receptionist or a bank executive, she will most certainly find herself being used as an abused maid or a sex slave, as this was my findings in several cases.
In conclusion, Kuwait is by far one the worst places to ever except a job. Some of my fellow Jordanians believe that if there was a nation of infidels and hypocrites it would be known as Kuwait.

    Hi Nick,
The fact that they are in Kuwait for the security of the oil means that they r there for the security of the oil and nothing else than that ... if you dont mind.
Hope you dont have any doubts about what do they do in Kuwait.
The other user has not told that americans do not respect the customs of the contry. It is visible from his post above. This really made me smile friendly:)
    Have a nice day ahead.

@ Hamed, Thanks for your comment, its really cool and uplifting to hear that from someone whose native land I am allowed to live in for a time. I could not agree with you more. I hope you find that the same things are true about my country if you ever get a chance to visit there. I'm confident that you will. Thanks again, and best of luck!

@Kali lol What did I say? All good things, I'm sure of it.

Kuwait is a unique country; I have nothing bad to say about it. Full of very intresting people. I hope that came across to anyone who thought I was badmouthing the place. Far from it, I've made a really good life here so far, and the Kuwaitis have welcomed me for the most part. But in the intrest of honest discussion about a place that is not my home, I think its fair for me and everyone else to point out the things we see as different and so forth. Just sharing information, and I think thats the point of this kind of thing.

I hope everyone has twice the luck this year in Kuwait that I've had. Life is short. What's not to love? lol

it really sad to see such comments about Kuwait, i don't blame you, YES there is huge number of Kuwaiti people that treat other nationalities with less respect, but that doesn't make Kuwait a BAD country....i guess all i am saying is that you have to look for the right people and don't judge all the Kuwaitis...
i am a Kuwaiti and i treat everyone the way i wanna be treated.
    PEACE! :)
