We had to cancel Sounds Like Fire during the festival but you just can't keep a good fire down. The event features award-winning local poets and musicians Francis Arevalo, Kimmortal, Desiree Dawson and Hari Alluri. Sounds Like Fire will be equal parts tenderness and fire, water and righteous rage. Each featured artist brings big love and social consciousness to the stage, while displaying lyrical craft that encompasses hip hop, the poetic page, folk, and experimental music in between.

Vancouver Poetry House events take place on the ancestral territories of the Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh First Nations, whose lands were never sold, ceded, or relinquished,—lands that were taken. Vancouver Poetry House supports the resurgence of Indigenous culture and the work of Indigenous poets.
