There's no debate over how many positive things the National Association for Colored People has brought to the people of Indiana throughout its rich and vibrant history. The heroic work for equality and justice continues today. In exciting news from the Hammond NAACP Branch #3052, the Hammond NAACP recently announced it would host one of its most popular events, the Annual Freedom Luncheon. This year is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at noon at Dynasty Banquet Hall, 4125 Calumet Avenue, Hammond, IN 46320. This year's national theme is "This Is Power,"and speakers will address this and many other important issues for the local minority community.

"We are fighting hard every day to improve lives for all residents of Northwest Indiana," commented President Reverend Homer Cobb of the Hammond NAACP Branch. "Our inspirations are the heroes of the Civil Rights Movement, and we are bringing that same spirit to our work today. It is very clear that it is needed, but also clear that the power is there if we boldly stand up and take it!"

The afternoon will feature a talk from Daniel Duster, the great-grandson of an NAACP founder, Ida B. Wells. The history of Motown music is also planned, along with a delicious meal and lots more fellowship and networking.

Sponsorships are open, and ads are available for the event for local businesses and organizations who want to show support while promoting themselves to the community. Ads and sponsorships have a Sept. 10 deadline. Tickets are $50 per person for this important event.
